Transition to Fall: Fashion Basics

Who’s ready for Fall? Usually, I would say, NO WAY, but this year, I am ready. Bring on the change of season! I am ready for some change in the air around here! With the change in seasons comes that weird transition time where we have no idea what to wear.

I keep my wardrobe for the transition into fall very basic. Today I am sharing with you a few of my favorite basics and how to change it up a bit with just a pair of shoes. I keep my style simple. Black and white, mostly. I buy the same jeans and long sleeves every year. Hey, if it’s not broke, why fix it, right?

Basic Tops

  • Long Sleeve T-shirt: I buy new long sleeve tees in black and white every year. I do size up one size so they aren’t skin tight. Long sleeve shirts are a versatile piece. You can wear them by themselves as the seasons initially change and then use them as a layering piece when it begins to get colder. I buy a black and a white. You could get color, too, if that’s your thing.
  • Thermal Henley Long Sleeve: These thermals are one of my favorite Walmart finds. They are online in a 2-pack bundle for $13! Can’t beat the price. I size up one size, they do run a little small.
  • Long Sleeve Blouse: I love a versatile blouse that you can dress up or down. Wear with jeans or pair with dress pants for work. Perfect with the leopard loafers or the backless loafers below. Outfit complete!

Denim

I LOVE Gap jeans. They are the ONLY brand I wear. They fit me the best, SO comfortable and they last forever. I am going to list a few of my favorite pairs! PS: some of them aren’t even really jeans, but you wouldn’t even know by looking at them.

Gap jeans run true to size, wash and dry very well and you can usually find them on sale!

  • High Rise Jegging: These are your everyday, go with everything jean. They are jeggings, so the front pockets aren’t actually real, but who needs those anyways?!
  • High Rise Jegging — Black: These are your favorite jeggings in black. I think black jeans are a great fall and winter jean. I love a black on black look. Black jeans and a black long sleeve top! Classic. Add the leopard loafers or the backless loafers and you have another outfit complete!
  • Skinny Ankle Jeans: These are my most asked about jeans. I love the button fly. I am 5’4″and I do have to cuff the legs to hit me right above the ankle. I think they look cute cuffed or un-cuffed.

Shoes

  • Women’s Pointed Toe Loafers – A leopard loafer is the perfect finishing touch to a basic outfit. Elevate your jeans and long sleeve tee with these cute shoes. You can never go wrong with animal print!
  • Women’s Backless Loafers – These may be one of my top favorite pairs of shoes. Of course, I love to just slide on and off a shoe. They can totally elevate your jeans and tee to the next level. I have last year’s version, but they are the same style this year! I sized up ½ a size in these. You can really wear these with anything. Jeans, a dress, ankle pants, you name it and I bet it would be cute! If you buy one pair of shoes from this list, I would pick these!
  • Chelsea Rain Boots – I bought these rain boots last year, too, but they are the same this year! I get SO many compliments when I wear these. They aren’t your typical clunky, colorful rain boot (I have a pair of those too and love them, by the way). These are the rain boots that you can wear to work and wear them all day. They will keep your feet dry and you will look cute, too!

Putting it all Together

Which look is your favorite? I am definitely choosing the all black look.

Happy (almost) Fall, friends!

Angie

Definitely the white tee and leopard print shoes! Animal prints make great fall transition pieces!

I agree! A touch of animal print is great for Fall.
