Birthday Gift Guide: 6-year-old Boy

I have to admit, birthdays were a little different around here this year. I will start by saying, I did spend more on this year’s birthdays than normal, but “not normal” circumstances called for it, I think!

For birthdays, I try to make it a fun day! Summer birthdays are fun, but you do miss out on being the center of attention at school. I also really LOVE birthdays because it is truly the ONE day a year that is all about YOU.

We started the day with our favorite donuts (shout-out to Donut Days in Lexington, KY), packed a picnic lunch and headed to Shaker Village to see the farm animals and ended our day with our favorite pizza (shout-out to Joe Bologna’s in Lexington, KY) and cake!

The presents happened all day. LOL! Seriously, I let him open a few in the morning, a few before lunch and we saved a few for after dinner.

Gift Ideas

  1. Mini Drone for Kids — This toy is TOO COOL! It can be played with inside or outside. The entire family will have fun with this!
  2. Bug Catcher Kit — My kids have been into catching bugs all summer! When I saw this kit, I knew it would be a perfect gift. It might have been his favorite gift.
  3. Bug Book — A book so he can look up and read about the bugs he catches! He has loved doing this. He finds the picture to match the bug and I read about it to him. Perfect companion to the bug catcher kit.
  4. Joke Books — Knock-knock jokes have become a thing around our house. The kids have also loved reading the jokes on the Popsicle sticks! I bought 2 joke books — a knock-knock joke book and a silly joke book. We sit at the dinner table each night and read each other jokes. Too funny!
  5. Bow and Arrow — OK, this is a foam bow and arrow and he LOVES it. I will say my 6-year-old is 4 ft tall and I do not think he could work it if he was any smaller. His favorite thing to do is shoot it over the neighbors back fence! Don’t worry if you lose the arrows, you can also purchase a refill pack.
  6. I Spy book — We LOVE all things I Spy. We have several games and love the books. We usually check the books out of the library, but with the library closed, I decided to buy them for birthdays!
  7. Mario Party — We have had a Nintendo Switch for over a year and it is fun to find family games. Mario Party is great for the entire family. Even my 4-year-old loves to play it. It has games where you have to work as a team. Individual games are an option too! We are all about things the entire family can play, so this is a great choice for a video game for that reason.
  8. Minecraft — My husband ordered the Minecraft game straight for download (it is cheaper that way!), so I won’t link it here. I also got him a Minecraft blanket (that is SO soft) and a Minecraft shirt that he loves. I’m not sure where he heard about Minecraft, but he was pretty excited for the swag.

I asked him which were his favorite gifts and he says the UFO, the bug catcher kit and the bow and arrow! You can’t go wrong with any of those!

Happy birthday!

Stay well,

Angie
