Easter Basket Ideas for Kids

Easter may be a little different this year, but I plan to make the day as normal as possible for the kids. We will be waking up to Easter baskets, attending our church service online, enjoying an Easter brunch and likely doing multiple Easter egg hunts.

Is anybody still trying to get Easter baskets put together? Or maybe you are looking for fillers for your Easter eggs? I have done all my shopping online and will share what I have purchased and some other ideas in this post. Shhhh, don’t tell the kids!

If you order in the next few days, your items will make it in time for Easter!

For each kid, I am planning to give them a book, a pair of pajamas, a set of LEGOs, something for crafts, something for outside, and something just for fun.

Easter Basket Ideas for a BOY

My son is 5-years-old, but many of these ideas would work for a wide age range!

1. Books: The Berenstain Bears Easter Classics, The Story of Easter and How to Catch the Easter Bunny are all great choices!

2. LEGOs: We love LEGOs and I think they make the perfect Easter basket filler. I have a few sets linked in my last post!

3. Pajamas: Target has many cute sets for the kids for spring. I love these with the shorts and pants.

4. MindWare Dig it Up: Wild Animals Tube — These will be a fun activity to uncover what is inside each egg. I love that they are eggs, too! Appropriate for the holiday.

Easter Basket Ideas for a GIRL

My daughter is 3-years-old, for reference, but many of these ideas would work for a wide age range!

1. Books: Count on the Easter Pups (Paw Patrol), Happy Easter, Mouse, Happy Easter, Little Critter, and Minnie’s Easter Adventure are all great choices.

2. Nail polish: My daughter loves to have her fingernails and toenails painted. I love this little set. A variety of colors for a great price!

3. Pretend make-up: I promise you, this will be a hit. No mess & your little one still gets to play with make-up. That’s a win!

4. Pajamas: I can’t get one pajamas without getting some for the other. Lots of choices, but I love this set.

Easter Basket Ideas for Both

1. Books: Easter Coloring and Activity Book, The Easter Story for Children, and The Story of Easter (Board Book) are great choices for most ages.

2. Sprinkler: Outdoor fun is a must this Spring. We have had this sprinkler for 2 years now and my kids have gotten several hours of play out of it.

3. Water guns: Again, outdoor play is always fun for the kids (and adults, too). These water blasters are a great option!

4. Chocolate bunny: Every basket needs a chocolate bunny, right? I was even able to order these online with the rest of the goodies.

5. Crayon eggs: These crayons that look like eggs are the perfect filler for a toddler or pre-school age child.

6. Paint and paint brushes: The options are endless with washable paint and new brushes. My kids have been painting pictures to hang in their toy room.

7. Easel paper: Large paper for large paintings. I do think my kids will enjoy making big masterpieces with this paper.

8. Bubble gun: I love this fun way to play with bubbles. Something different than just blowing bubbles. I think a kid at any age would enjoy this!

Easter Egg Hunt — Egg Fillers

Besides candy and loose change, here a some alternative ideas to fill your eggs for the egg hunt:

1. Small toys: I have already used this set of small toys and goodies to do Easter egg hunts around the house.

2. Pre-filled eggs: Looking for an alternative to candy and don’t want to fill your own eggs, these pre-filled eggs are perfect for you.

3. Yo-yos: These light up yo-yos will be a good choice for older kids, I think.

4. Slime: I am not one that likes things like this, but at this point, I am just looking for something to make the kids happy and keep them occupied.

5. Bouncy balls: My kids love bouncy balls and we usually lose them pretty quick. Fun for indoors or outdoors. This set of 12 is perfect for Easter eggs.

6. Play-doh: Another thing I am not a big fan of, but desperate times, folks. The play-doh always ends up mixed together and an ugly brown color that I toss, so I thought this bag of 15 is perfect to fill Easter eggs and use a few at a time.

For bigger items, I ordered these larger eggs. For smaller items, I ordered these smaller eggs.
