Online Resources for Kids: Part 1

My children are out of school for the next 3 weeks (at least) due to COVID-19. During this time, we are practicing social distancing and have cancelled all lessons and plans. I called on my mother-in-law (retired elementary and middle school teacher) to help me gather resources for the kids. I want to make sure that I continue to support the learning they would have received at school.

I have several resources to share with you for “Part 1” and will plan to post new resources each Sunday until we head back to school. These would also be good to bookmark for Summer! My children are in kindergarten and preschool, so the activites will be geared for these ages.

I am not going to share our specific schedule because everyone’s will look a bit different. I don’t think you should pressure yourself into a strict schedule, but I definitely believe kids need a routine. I plan to start and end our weekdays the same way we start and end our school days. We will get outdoors as much as possible. We will also have breakfast, lunch and dinner at around the same time. Quiet time will be after lunch and our bedtime routine will remain the same.

I am excited to share these resources with you and I do hope you will find this helpful!

Every day, I plan to pray, go on a walk, play a board game, do an art project and be as active as possible outside if the weather permits. Screen time will be used varying times of the day, as needed.

I am not going to let the above activities cause a fight. I want this time to be remembered as quality time and I want my children to enjoy learning.

Take things day by day and remember to give yourself and your children lots of grace.
