How to Keep Your Lips Healthy

Winter can be a hard time for your lips! Between the cold, dry air outside and the dry, heated air inside, your lips can’t catch a break.

I have always suffered from terrible chapped lips, especially in the winter. This is the first winter for as long as I can remember that I do not have chapped lips and I attribute that to two things I am doing differently this season.

  1. Proper hydration. I drink 100 ounces of water daily. Dehydration can lead to dry lips and skin. To avoid these, especially during the winter months, hydrate properly.
  2. The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. I have been using the Laneige Sleeping Mask for a year now and I still have over half a container left. A little bit goes a long way! I do apply it twice a day. In the morning while putting on my make-up before lipstick and at night before bed. It is very important to hydrate your lips before lipstick. Lipstick can dry out your lips.

Other things that can help keep your lips healthy:

  1. Don’t lick your lips.
  2. Run a cool mist humidifier in your main living area and while you sleep.
  3. Protect your lips from sun exposure.
  4. Take off your make-up before bed, including your lipstick.
  5. Use an ointment-based lip balm or chapstick.
  6. Moisturize your lips regularly.

During the day I do layer Blistex over my lipstick if I ever feel my lips getting dry.

Keep your lips healthy this winter!
