Family Game Night: Part 2

Over the last several months, we have played A LOT of games! We were a big game family pre-COVID, but quarantine has taken our board gaming to the next level.

If you follow me on Instagram (@angiebgrubbs), you know we LOVE to play games as a family. We try to find games the entire family can play together. Most of the time my 4-year-old is on a team with mom or dad or even big brother! Big brother is 6-years-old.

Games are a fun way for kids to learn. It’s great family time for us. It is really the one thing we enjoy to do all together.

If you are new here, check out my first few game posts, “Family Fun Night at Home” and “Family Game Night” for more ideas! Here are the games we have added to our collection since my last post.

Family Fun Games

  • Sushi Go! — My sister gets all the credit for finding this fun game! This card game is easy to pick up. It is a simple pick and pass game that requires some strategy to acquire the most points at the end! [Amazon link].
  • Qwixx — Make learning FUN with this dice game! Roll the dice, add them up, and choose which one works best for your card. Learning doesn’t have to be a sit down worksheet or workbook. This game is a fun way to encourage math skills in children. [Amazon link].
  • Hi Lo Flip — This is another fun game to encourage math skills by having to choose which card to lay down on the pile, either higher or lower!
  • Battleship — My husband just recently bought this game and my 6-year-old loves it! I think many of us played this game as children. The game hasn’t changed! Note: The one linked is the one that we have, not the electronic version.
  • No Stress Chess — BIG thanks to the friend on Instagram who suggested this game. My husband was/is a BIG fan of chess. I don’t know how to play and trying to teach a 6-year-old the traditional way is a bit much. BUT this version is PERFECT. Even I am learning to play! It literally takes all the stress away. You draw a card telling you which piece to move next. It is a really fun way to learn how to play.
  • Family Charades — This game is perfect for all ages! If your child can’t read, like my 4-year-old, the card includes a picture of what they need to act out. We have laughed and laughed playing this game. The kids LOVE being the actors!
  • Sequence for Kids — This is another great game for younger kids! It requires no reading, but teaches strategy and logic.
  • Pass the Pigs — OK, hear me out on this one. It is actually pretty fun. All you do is roll the pigs like a pair of dice. Depending on how they land is how many points you receive OR if you lose them all. Anybody can play. It requires no thinking.
  • Clue Jr. — This is our current favorite game! We have played it every night for at least 2 weeks! A really cute spin-off of the original Clue that children can play! There are 2 versions — The Case of the Broken Toy and The Case of the Missing Cake.

Have FUN! That’s what it’s all about!

If you have a game your family loves that we need to try, please put it in the comments!

Enjoy,

Angie
