OK, let me set the stage for a minute. It’s Friday night, you’re exhausted, you have cooked dinner all week and the last thing you want to do is spend your Friday night in the kitchen. Or maybe you are looking for a dish to take to watch the game at a friend’s house (whenever that happens again). Or maybe you are looking for a meal that the entire family will enjoy. Well, THIS recipe fits all of the above! And it’s a crowd-pleaser.
I have to admit, I am not much of a cook. I can find and follow a recipe, sure, but I am not that creative. Well, until quarantine happened. I have actually had the time to cook and become creative! I have also been drawn towards comfort food. Bread and fried chicken are comfort foods, am I right?
I had this thought in my mind that I wanted some kind of chicken slider with honey mustard, but I couldn’t find a recipe that fit what I had in my mind, so I made one up.
First, here’s a list of what I used:
Step 1: Bake the chicken strips according to the package. Keep oven on 400 degrees.
Step 2: Line a 9 x 13 baking dish with the slider buns.
Step 3: Cut up each chicken strip into 3 pieces. Place the cooked chicken strips on bottom slider buns.
Step 4: Cut 3 slices of Colby jack cheese into 4 pieces and place on top of the chicken strips.
Step 5: Spread the honey mustard on the top part of the bun. Repeat for all 12 buns.
Step 6: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter and brush it on top of the buns.
Step 7: Bake on 400 for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
I served it with Trader Joe’s handsome cut fries. All the comfort food!
My husband raved about these sliders. I think he is liking the cook I am becoming! HAHA!
Enjoy and stay well,
Angie
