A Salad a Day!

A couple of years ago, I started to follow the “adding” philosophy. It’s also how I talk to my patients about health. ADD in healthy foods and behaviors. Don’t focus on taking things away. Focus on the ADD. The healthy foods and behaviors will overtake the unhealthy this way, believe me.

Today, let’s talk about one way to ADD more vegetables to your everyday eating.

One easy way to ADD tons of veggies to your day is to eat a salad a day!

I am going to share several salad recipes below! If you follow me on Instagram you already know, I have a love for bagged salads.

Bagged salads are so easy and convenient. They also come packaged with everything you need, no cutting or chopping involved. AND they have a variety of flavors.

My top 3: Taylor Farms Everything, Taylor Farms Cheesy Ranch, Taylor Farms Sweet Kale. I have to give Taylor Farms Dill Pickle an honorable mention. Taylor Farms, if you are reading this, you can send salads my way anytime.

So, if you aren’t in to making your own salad, try a bagged one.

IF you are in to making your own salad, try one of the recipes below!

  • Kale and Brussel Sprout Salad: This salad has a fall vibe for me. I made if for Thanksgiving last year and had to add it to my favorite list. Perfect blend of sweet and bitter. If you like brussel sprouts, this salad is for YOU.
  • The BEST Side Salad: I would have to agree, besides the Lextonian Salad from Malone’s (if you know, you know), this is the best side salad. I think the seasoning is what makes it.
  • Easy Spinach Salad: This is a simple, 4 ingredient salad that I love to toss together for lunches.
  • Apple Almond Crunch Salad: This is a new to me salad, introduced to me by my sister, and I have to say, DELICIOUS! I left out the onions (the husband doesn’t eat onions).
  • That Good Salad: If you prefer to make your own dressing, try out this salad!
  • Simple Italian Salad: If you are getting fancy on pasta night, try out this salad.
  • Taco Salad: Always a go-to of mine when ground beef is on sale!

Ok, so settle a debate for me. Do things that don’t contain a green deserve to be called a salad? Looking at you Strawberry Pretzel Salad and Pasta Salad. Seriously, I don’t really get why we use the word “salad” so universal. When I talk salad, I mean one that contains greens :).

Happy Eating,

Angie

I too enjoy the Taylor Farms salads, especially when I want a salad now! I would like to point out, though, that some bagged salads use iceberg when I usually try to eat darker greens like spinach and kale. Look for salads with those dark green leaves and those with lower calorie dressings for the healthiest options. I enjoy your blog. Keep posting!
